Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Several months ago I joined ancestry.com and paid my membership by credit card. After several days of using this service, I was not satisfied and used their web page to cancel my membership. I immediately received a notice that the membership would end in eight days. But then I noticed that the company continued to take a monthly membership from my account--much to my dismay and anger. This took several months to notice because my wife was paying the bills at that time and she did not question me. When I tried to telephone the company, I waited for almost fifty minutes, but without a response. I tried again, but to no avail. I finally called Visa and arranged to cancel and was promised a return on the past three months. Then a few days ago, I received an e-mail from the company saying that it could not access my card for payment. I sent an e-mail, which was returned because of an "error" in the system. This was the second e-mail to returned to me for the same reason. Despite such horrid "service" the company claims on its web page to have a five-star rating from the BBB. This I find curious and depressing. Thankfully your page shows a land address where I can send my complaint directly to them. I look forward to hearing from you and from ancestry.com."
