Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I run a small Baber Shop in Atlantic Ctiy., my average electric bill for the past since I have been at this address was in the neighborhood of $ 300.00., there were adjoining vacant shops to mine., Up until last May 2010 when a restaurant opened at 3019 Atlantic Ave., My shop is at 3017., there was not a problem, and I paid my bills regularly.,.,When they started remodeling the next location my electric bill skyrocketed, I got an electrician to check the lines, and he said they were (the neighbor) on my meter., I had called AC electric and we have gone back and forth since.. I receive no bills from August til Jan of this year and callled repeatedly concerning this., then I received a bill of over $ 4,000.00 dollars with a notice to disconect., I paid $ 1,000.00 on Friday of last week and thought we could straighten this out...They gave me a new meter number., and insist that this is my bill....I HAVE NEVER let my bill go unpaid until this past Sept., of 2010.. and its always had been in the same range...I believe that I had paid for the adjoining property in error as the electrician stated last year., Accepting the fact that no bill had been sent for 5 months I could understand a balance of 1,200. to 1,500 dollars and the $ 1,000.00 paid last week should have brought me into current or very near... I spoke to the AC electric representatives and when I questioned that the same shop had gone from $200.00 to $ 300.00 a month in electric it seemed impossible.,. She stated that I could have a RUNAWAY APPLIANCE., ..... WHAT..KIND OF APPLIANCE.. WE HAVE HAND HAIR DRYERS AND A SMALL REFRIG...
PLEASE HELP., this can cost us jobs and families hardships
Thank You

My shop has not changed in size nor any equipment since initialing opening."

  • I've been on hold with Atlantic City Electric, customer support person, Sharette,  she over talked me as I tried to speak and told me that since their call volume is so high they have to resolve the issues quickly.  My bill for april to may was $720 which is way too high.  I spoke to another customer care person last Thursday who said that someone would contact me regarding my billing dispute, but never received a call.  According to Sharette, someone did reach out to me but did not leave a message or a number to call back.  Now with that said, I asked to speak with a supervisor and she told me she was a lead and no supervisors were available and then said that the bills were estimated and that's why the bill is so high.  This is not the truth because I unlock my gate now for the meter reading and my bill does not indicate that, it says our usage went from 300 to 3000.  I will go to BBB to complain and most likely get an attorney as this is so outrageous.  If anyone has advise, please share.  Thanks
