"Buyer beware of this company. After 4 years of never filing a claim, I was sent a non-renewal letter claiming that I had two water losses within 5 years. The first water loss was in 2014 and I was not insured or paid by Cabrillo Coastal. The second "claim" was June 2018 which was actually just me asking what the deductible was then telling them that I would repair it myself, so they did not send an adjuster nor did they pay on this "claim." They said, once I called about it, they consider it a claim."
Under the The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act you're entitled to get a copy of your C.L.U.E. Personal Property report from Lexis-Nexis, including loss history, inquiry history, and information on how to dispute any claims in your report. I suggest you get a copy immediately. If Cabrillo Coastal is going by inaccurate information, other insurance companies will too - which may cause denials or higher rates. Insurance companies get very upset about water claims because of the mold hazards. As a Florida-based company - I'm not sure where you're located - it is probably really cracking down on water loss claim properties. But there's a big difference between types of water loss.
You can't force Cabrillo Coastal to take you as a customer, but you're right to pursue and spotlight this. Unfair denials and insurance terminations are very hard on consumers and you deserve to know the full story. Moreover, consumers these days like to understand a company's business practices before committing. If you Google CLUE FACT Act disclosure you should get to the right form.

PeopleClaim is a new way to resolve disputes online without lawyers or mediators. By inviting suggestions from the public, disputing parties get ideas that can lead to settlement – and the person(s) who contributed them can win a reward.
Here's what to do: Read the case (left side of page). Then go to the bottom of the page and enter your suggestion in the space provided. Click the Solution button.
Your suggestion will be sent to both parties and will post on the claim. If the two sides agree to settle based on your suggestion, you're eligible to win. Note: Cash rewards may be split among more than one person if settlement depends on ideas from more than one contributor. If you have a claim of your own to resolve, click here.
You can submit up to three solutions / rebuttal, you would like to settle or to be voted on.
