Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"February, 2002 when I shopped for APA accredited PHD program in clinical psychology, they said that they were planning on pursuing APA and by the time I graduated, they would have APA accreditation and as long as I graduated after the APA, I would be able to sit for licensure in my state. With that information, I applied into Capella University's PHD program in clinical psychology. I was accepted without any difficulty or hesitation. About a year into the program, an announcement came that they were not pursuing APA accreditation for their PHD program, but they are launching a PSY.D program and only the PSY D program will be APA accredited. At that time, students were given an option to switch, given we took MORE classes, which translated to more money in their pocket. I completed 100% of my degree requirements…..my residency, my practicum, I passed my comprehensive exam, my dissertation was published (after 2 years because my initial hypothesis was rejected…more classes….more money in their pocket) and I completed my internship. Two weeks from my graduation, a I was accused of ethical code violation…..I was accused of switching my primary internship supervisor for my secondary for the fear of failure. Both of my supervisors have passed my internship and have recommended for jobs and to pursue Licensed as a professional counselor during my internship so that fear was not present, but I was wrongly accused and dismissed from the university without any remedy or my well earned degree. Capella never had any disciplinary action against me in the 7 years of my academic years, but soon after I completed 100% of my degree requirement and exhausted my student loan, I was dismissed without any consideration. They had no intention of awarding me my degree."
