"UNDER THE GUISE OF OWNING A COMPANY CALL T-n-T, Into A Showplace, Charlotte, NC, HE CONTRACTED WITH US TO BUILD A LARGE DECK ON THE BACK OF OUR HOUSE. PLANS WERE DRAWN UP BETWEEN HE AND MY HUSBAND, AND A CONTRACT WAS SIGNED OCTOBER 14, 2013, FOR LABOR AND WE BOUGHT THE MATERIALS. THE MATERIALS WERE PURCHASED AND HE THEN HAD ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES DO MOST ALL OF THE CONSTRUCTING OF THE DECK, WITH WHAT WE HAD WANTED, CHOICE DEK, PURCHASED FROM LOWE'S BUILDING SUPPLIES.
THE WORK WAS PERFORMED IN A SHOTTY MANNER AND EVERY SUPPORT TIMBER AND BEAM WAS SPLIT, DUE TO IMPROPER CONSTRUCTION, AND THE CHOICE DEK WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. EVERY SPINDLE AND TOP PIECE WERE EITHER SPLIT, MISSING OR SCREWED IN WITHOUT PRE-DRILLING THE HOLE FIRST. CONSEQUENTLY, THE HOLES WERE MISPLACED, CAUSING THE FRAMING TIMBER TO SPLIT AND THE CHOICE DECK TO HAVE HOLES THAT WALLOWED OUT. DEON THEN INFORMS US AS THE CONSTRUCTION WORK IS GOING ON THAT THIS WAS HIS FIRST DECK. HE LED US TO BELIEVE THAT HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING BECAUSE HE, ACCORDING TO HIS SO-CALLED "BUSINESS CARD" HAD OVER 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN BUILDING OUTDOOR LIVINGSPACES, DECKS, PORCHES AND PATIOS. WE ASKED TO COME BACK AND MAKE THINGS RIGHT AND FINISH THE JOB IN A BUSINESS-LIKE MANNER AND HE HAD EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK. HE DID NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING. HIS LABORER WHO WAS DOING ALL THE WORK SAID HE WAS A BRICK MASON BY TRADE. SO WHAT WAS HE DOING BUILDING A DECK? WE HAVE NO RECOURSE IN THIS MATTER, EXCEPT TO WARN PEOPLE IN THE AREA OF LINCOLN COUNTY, NC NOT TO EVER USE THIS INDIVIDUAL FOR ANY TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION, AS HIS CREDITIONALS ARE NOT TRUE."
