Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Brandon Gould,An 18 year old H.S. graduate who happens to be a highly functioning autistic man From the time Brandon was in 7th grade he had decided that the Dream job for him would be a Baker at Golden Corral! It was his favorite place to eat and everyone knew him. So what would be more perfect than getting a job where he had trained at this very resturaunt as a student in the job-site program in H,S. The job which had the discription of cleaning up inside and outside the building, taking out trash, sweeping, and washing dishes as well as helping on the line. He was supposed to have two days of training so his Job Coach didn't come with him the first day. The supervisor showed him how to clock in, told him he couldn't eat or drink on the job, set him up at a computer, and he had one hour of training before she came back and got him and put him in the dish room. Before his family were to come for him at 4:00PM ,he called and said he could stop and eat , but there were only 2 guys showed up so they said for him to work until 10:00, was that OK?He worked from 8:00AM to 12:00 that night. He worked 16 hours with 30 minutes off at 4:00 for dinner.
He worked crazy hours, he tried to work fast and poured boiling hot water on his back(and finished his shift ). He lost 20 pounds and once he found out that he didn't have to ask permission to go to the bathroom because he was allowed breaks(which noone told him about) the supervisors only had good things to say about him. He was on time, he didn't waste time,he was eager to work... One of the supervisors that Brandon Gould had worked with before, MS.B, wanted Brandon to work in the kitchen, so when Brandon got trench-foot and infecion of his toe severe enough that the Dr. made him stay off work for 2weeks and said he should not work in such a wet enviornment, Brandon asked if he could be transered to another part of the restaurant. Mr.Brian, the manager of the Skibo Golden Correl told Brandon through his Job Coach that Brandon couldhave his job as a dish washer, but he "wasn't suited to do anything else." Brandon made an appointment to go in and resign from his employment, but the job coach called and said the meeting had been cancelled, and since Brandon had picked up his last check that he shoudn't go in. Brandon didn't thinkt hat was correct, but did not feel welcome at golden correl so he has never been back inside.. In January 2013 the job coach- NOT GOLDEN CORREL- called Brandon and told him to GO AND PICK UP HIS CHECK FROM GOLDEN CORREL FROM OCT. This call came after he had received his W2 form andhad filed his taxes- they wanted him to say he had received it in 2012 when in fact, it was nearly Feb.when a family member picked it up and it was already 110 days old. No bank would cash it. He took it back and Ms. Shannon kept the information . She then made him resposible for calling the company and talking to the business office. Brandon is not on SSI, and $114.00 was money he earned through hard work. It is now June and he hasn't received his money. He always wanted to be a baker at golden corral, well, you can't fix his dream. but you can pay him what you owe him. As a concerned citizen I think this young man has been treated unfairly and discriminated against, his hopes crushed and his dreams dashed. he is not employed at the moment and feel that all hope o getting his check is lost, pleaase help him with this. Thank you, Ms. j.Good"

What Claimant Wants Hide
Message from Claimant: Brandon just wants his check. The adults in his llife would not like ae least an apology, and a look at the interview and hireing practices (or lack there-of) of the Skibo Golden Corral. Brandon would have made an outstanding employee. Even in a job like dishwasher he did whatever was asked of him.It is my opinion that since his goal was to be a baker, that if he had been placed in the bakery with his job coach, the restaurant would have had a loyal and skilled baker who was never late for the rest of his worktng life. Having mental disability doesn't mean an inability to do meaningful work.
