"The campground is mis-represented as a KOA campground. It is not and has not been for several years. We made reservations several weeks ahead of time, was promised a shady area, cable hook up and wi-fi accessibility. We were put on site # 132, which is at the end of a gravel parking lot, has no shade any where, some bushes were planted here and there, but noting to be called a shade. The shaded areas are all taken by year round lodgers we found out. I personally made no complaint, until I got home and never rec. a receipt for our stay. When I called back, she said I had done noting but complain while we were there, which was not true. The lady we delt with name was Barbra, the paper work we were given said Nancy , The paper work says Heber Springs KOA on it. She said our site would be $30. a night, I figured tax etc. later she said she though it was $33.94 per night, never said there would be an extra charge for using a credit card, until I called asking for my receipt. She said she text-ed it. I have not got texting ability on my home phone, and that is all I provided her with. I asked for a paper receipt when we talked with her the morning after we arrived, We arrived on 6/18/14, and left on 6/23/14. I expected the charge to be around $150.00, my sister called, she stayed right next to us in the same camp ground, and she was only charged $135.75. When I talked to the lady on the phone about the charge, she said it would be around $169.00, but would not give me an exact amount. I asked her what the diff. was, and she said it was what our stay cost. I don't understand why there is a difference in the charge, when my sister was there about 5 hours ahead of us, and left about an hour and a half after we did on Monday, I asked the lady this question, and she could not give me an answer, and got very angry with me. She got very nasty on the phone, and then hung up on me. She said she would give me the management number but she never did, and when I asked again, she refused.
I did try to call the management number listed on my paper work, and got her again, she claimed she was in her car on the way to see the Dr., so I thought I would call a dif. number, and got her again. I believe she lied to me on several counts. She claimed they were not KOA, but they are advertising to be KOA and their paper work has the logo on it. She said there was a management, but there is not, she is it. I was given the impression that we would have a shaded campsite, we did not. We were on the end of a gravel parking lot, we had good hook up is all, but on the end we were right in the turn area, and had to put up with cars and trucks turning almost into our camper door most of the time. Eventually they did put up 2 traffic cones, but that did not help with the dust. We were promised good wi-fi service and it was all but non existent. I was told I would receive a paper receipt, I did not and have not received it at all. I was hung up on by this woman 4 times when all I was asking for was the amount of our stay so that I could subtract it from my bank acct.
I believe this campground needs to be investigated, there were several things that I think are going on there that may be against business policies when running a campground. To be treated disrespectfully by any owner or manager should never happen. Most companies want your return business. They evidently do not.
I have stayed in over 300 campgrounds, and this is the worst experience I have ever had ."
