Claimant says:
"I moved out of Orchard Springs apartments on July 1, 2010. Shortly after that, they billed me for $813, going through a collection agency.

I protested, and they sent me an itemized list, with vague titles like "prorate paint," "venitian blinds" "Clean apartment $100," and "empty trash $50," along with a number of other bogus, unexplained claims. I demanded an explanation of each item, and they did not reply.

I hired a lawyer and he wrote a letter and made a phone call, which caused them to give the case back to the apartments. He then recommended I settle for half, and that I write to the credit reporting agencies saying the report to them is disputed.

I was unwilling to settle for half, and had already paid the lawyer nearly as much as the claim. To do this would be equivalent to surrendering to a mugging. The lawyer was unwilling to sue them for libel. The credit reporting agency merely changed the report to say "disputed." Since that time, I have been refused credit twice.

The fact they have not come after me, sued me and garnished my paycheck indicates that they know their claims are bogus, and they could not prevail in court. When I moved out I left a $150 cleaning deposit, which was more than enough to pay for anything I owed.

Two weeks after I moved, I gave a friend a ride to the apartments to visit a friend. While there I peeked in the window of my old apartment, and it had not been touched. If there was damage to a window or venetian blind, it was done by vandals long after I had left. Orchard Springs management would not be stupid enough to pay somebody $100 to clean an apartment, when they can get the same for $50 any day. They would not pay somebody $50 to empty the trash when the total of all trash could be carried in one hand, and it is 50 steps to the dumpster.
