  • In this situation, you need to write a letter to the bank, and send it certified, to provide them with notice that you are disputing a charge or mistake in your account. If you do this, they will then need to open up an investigation into the charges and what occurred. To take advantage of the law that provides you with this right, you need to make sure you send them an actual written letter, and it must be delivered in a way that you can prove receipt (via certified mail). If they conduct an investigation and determine that the charges were correct, they have to provide you with the outcome of the investigation.
