Claimant's opinion: Didn't receive an itemized bill
Claimant's opinion: Company thinking they're above client cooperation
I have decided to hire a sod company to fix our yard, so the cost of that will be deducted as well as the dumpster that was never delivered.
We sent $500.00 to RoJohn today to resolve this roof repair dispute. I deducted $150.00 for the dumpster that was never delivered, and $230.00 for the sod installation to repair our lawn that the roofer tore up that RoJohn never repaired. We should also deduct the cost to hire another roofer to fix the sloppy flashing job, but we just want this finalized. We feel we should have never paid the $500.00 to resolve this, but we're just hoping RoJohn will try to do this to someone else, and they'll sue them and shut down their fraudulent business for good.
Well we had to stop payment on the $500.00 check we sent RoJohn, our roof started leaking again last night in the same spot they were supposed to have fixed. Now here we are, with a leaking roof and we've already paid RoJohn an $800.00 retainer. They are under contract with Owens Corning Roofing Products to stand behind their work. Hoping they will honor that and do what honorable businesses do in this situation and fix the problem as it should have been fixed originally. We don't want to have to sue them, we just want our leak fixed.
Well, we have contacted RoJohn twice to come fix the leak that they failed to fix in the first place. Talked to Rick Johnson yesterday from RoJohn, he was the first to estimate the cost of our roof repair for $1000.00. He stated yesterday we needed to get our whole roof replaced, that they couldn't just fix the area that was leaking, is this Fraud or what? They sent a roofer named Daniel who estimated the roof repair after Rick, he estimated the repair cost at $1680.00, and talked to me personally that same day and showed me exactly where the leak was coming from and said it would be no problem fixing it. This leak has already ruined one cabinet in our kitchen, if the leak's not fixed, it's going to eventually destroy all the cabinets and sheetrock SW of our kitchen sink, mind you this roof repair attempt was done less than 90 days ago. Since RoJohn is an Owens Corning materials contractor, we're hoping that their warranty on their materials will force RoJohn to come back and honor their contract, if not then RoJohn needs to return our $800.00 retainer so we can hire someone who can do the repair properly.
Well it appears RoJohn is willing to refund our money and call it a wash. I won't hold my breath until I see the check.
Well my Wife called RoJohn on 10/5 and then again on 10/12, both times being promised that our $800.00 retainer check was in the mail. First time by Pat McCarville and the second by the owner Mike McCarville. As of this morning we still haven't received it, and since their failure to fix our roof leak, we've received substantially more damage to the interior of our kitchen walls and cabinets. If RoJohn doesn't keep their word and return our retainer by the close of this week, they will be paying much more than just the $800.00, we will sue them for the damage to our lawn, our roof and interior of our kitchen. I can only imagine how bad the roof job actually was done considering how sloppy the flashing job was done. We had another roofing company come out last week to asses what RoJohn did, and they said it was done all wrong, especially the flashing.
This is a very simple complaint. The estimate that the claimant went by included a dumpster, and the dumpster was not necessary or used. Assuming that the total price was the same as the estimate, that cost should have been deducted.
Itemization is not rocket science. I recently had a plumber come out and while I wasn't happy with his total bill, it made sense -I received receipts for the items he had to go buy, line items for the things from his truck, and his call-out cost and hourly rate. I got all that immediately, along with his invoice, and was comfortable paying it on the spot instead of waiting to be billed. If the plumber had refused to give me an itemized invoice, I would have balked at the price charged. However, he simply gave an itemized invoice to me, and I understood the cost - I didn't have to ask.
I don't understand why this complaint hasn't been resolved. It's a very simple and ordinary request, and of course the unused dumpster shouldn't have been charged for - although there may have been a different cost for dumping the refuse.
