Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On September 24th, 2015 I drove to Conroe TX about a 'Travel Club' that would save me thousands of dollars in travel expenses. I went through a walk about of Piney Shores Resort and listened to a sales pitch about Silverleaf Resorts.
I was then assigned a sales representative named Joe Ceron. I told him I didn't want a time share for a resort because I'm divorced, handicapped & 66 years old and would be bored there. He told me I could exchange my assigned week for a cruise anywhere in the world. I said I wanted to take a Hawaiian cruise and he said I could use the exchange program to do that every year. So I agreed to pay $1111 to get that $3000 cruise to Hawaii. Joe then announced to the crowd that I was going to Hawaii with them.
On Saturday the 26th I called Silverleaf to cancel my membership and was told the office was closed, that I should call back the next week.
I called again on September 29th and was told that it was too late to cancel. I accepted my fate, figuring I'd at least save money on my trips.
I received my membership card two weeks later and called them to schedule my free Hawaiian cruise. I was told that I would only get $250 off the price of the $3000 Hawaiian cruise! I could get a better deal than that on Travelocity for free.
In October I found a $172.95 and a $83.95 recurring charge on my credit card from Silverleaf. I called the Texas Attorney General's office to file a complaint and was told it was a valid complaint, they had 17 other ones against Silverleaf that week. They also advised me to call the Texas Real-estate commission and file a complaint with them. I have filed both complaints. I want a refund of the $1367.90 I have paid them and a stop of the $172.90 charges and the $83.90 charges."
