Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My wife and I reserved a room for our honeymoon on June 30th 2012. She checked in about 1:30pm. Decorated the room with candles and other extremely personal effects. Before we made it to the room together after our wedding the lady at the desk gave a key to a random guy who went into our room on his own, lit the candles, went into our bedroom of our suite and lit candles, got into our hot tub and used it, and played with our personal effects!! My wife had to argue for the money back before the manager would give. Then the next day the manager outside of work went to family calling my wife a bitch and rude. No apology till days later but not before calling her such names and defaming my name and her full name to outside persons. Ruined our honeymoon and had to go home at 3:30am for the fear they give our room key out to strangers. He could have been in there hiding jealous of our marriage to kill us. The lady at the desk did not inform us. I had to discover on my own. They never offered any way to fix this. I have called corporate and the owner and they refuse to fix this. We had to go 60 miles away and pay 80 dollars more after gas for a room of equal quality."

  • I would try to contact corporate again, though at least you were able to get a refund at that particular time. Having researching the issue on whether it is "state law" to give a key to anyone, I have found information to the contrary (including a few news reports of incidents in the state) and this information should be stressed with the corporate office, as further education is needed for their local hotel staff. However, at least you were able to get a refund without having to contact the corporate offices or the owner of the individual franchise.
