Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"i had $15. added to my credit card for a tip when i didnt give a tip. the lady there told me today 9/13 that when i went there on 9/7 and sat down to eat that i am obligated to give a tip. if i cannot afford a tip i have to take the food out of the restaurant. i just cannot imagine how many people have left a tip and also have had money taken from them or should i say stolen from them. yes i confronted the lady, her family and whoever was there this morning and did get my money back but it was still stolen. she tried to tell me i must leave a tip if i eat in the booths, and i get served. this is america not thailand."

  • the $22.90 i spent on this i want refunded. such a small price to not make this go public. must be sent to either wal-mart or rite-aid thru western union. NO CHECKS

  • Sep 15, 2012, Claiming party added:
  • i hope this will not go public because i have had many great meals there, but my wife is intent on filing police charges.

  • Sep 16, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • what makes this even worse than it really seems is that my wifes card does not offer any kind of debits off her card but the charge for the meal. she is going thru her bank to get all the transactions from Thai Star that were paid on her card and each transaction shows the original amount and the extra that was taken out. the Thai Star lady said that "we dont know how you do business down south, but here you have to leave a tip on your card". my wife is from west virginia and is more upset than i am. always ring in meal amount then cancel it, followed by a new ring in of meal amount with the tip that MUST be given. so there are 2 slips and the one we get shows no tip, just meal amount. im thinking that the one you sign in the poorly lit atmosphere has the extra on it. only 1 slip is signed and never in duplicate, then i was told my son, and mike who i know are excellent tippers. its all family there, so its all tips if you ask me when the sausage are less than $3 a pack and sold for 12.95. i know this how, because i know the owner of the store where Thai Star buys some of their products. to top it all off my southern wife called more than 5 restaurants and they said you leave a tip if you want to, there is no law that says you must, or you have to take your food out of the building if you dont have the money to leave a tip..... hmmmmm someting isnt right but it can be fixed.

  • Sep 16, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • i quote from the thai lady... "You must leave a tip or take your food to go"

  • Sep 26, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • my wife has decided to file a police re[port on this restaurant. it is not a matter of the 22.90 for the fee here. BUT it is a matter that people know they are most likely having money taken from their card and dont even know it. SO all that said the wife wants to file a police report. never again to that restaurant even tho i had some wonderful meals there, my wife feels different about the whole situation. and the thai lady has something about people from the south(wife from west virginia) and rude comment made to her about being from south. thats a problem . ANYONE that eats there make sure you check your card and dont believe that the LAW is you have to eat outside if you dont leave a tip

  • Sep 29, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • well i guess it is public now. GOOD i hope people realize that they have been getting ripped. dont leave cash on the booth for a tip cuz ya getting it taken out again. i cannot type what i really want to say ..believe me

  • Sep 29, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • we are willing to stop by the restaurant and pick up the $22.90 for the filing of this claim. makes things alot easier. then she wont have to take time out of her busy schedule of having her children attend UNC. must be nice. put that on your card. one chance for the $22.90 to be picked up at store and we are done, my wife is filing a report and i will never look at this site, nor eat at that place again.

  • Oct 08, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • these peoploe dont care as i seen when i picked up the $15 they took off my card and the $10 off my wifes card. they'll prolly just run back to thailand after her kids graduate from UNC. i had the whole family screaming at me about "you must leave a tip if you sit in here" "if you cant then you must ake your food out" LOL what a joke

  • Oct 08, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • send the 22.90 to people claim and they will let me know when they get it. until then i hope the world knows about this shady practice. people claim has my phone# the Thai Restaurant can send them the money and iyt will be over with proof they got it. i hope the business goes belly up. also they should put a brighter light above the pay counter so people can actually see what they are signing. theres more light in the closet.

  • Oct 08, 2012, Thai Star Restaurant (responding party) added:
  • i know where you can buy the sausage for $3 a pack and a little olive oil in ur pan and voila very good thai sausage. cheaper than $12.95 and you get to eat all 3 links not 2.
