Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On Nov22, 2013 I had an accident and my wife took me to the emergency room at Town & Country Hospital. I was admitted with a laceration on my left leg which required about 30 sutures. I paid a co payment of $150.00 and my insurance company was billed for the balance. My wife and I were told that we should come back to the emergency and have a nurse remove the sutures and that there would be no charge for the 2nd visit in about 10 days.
Dec 2nd My wife and I returned to the emergency room and had the sutures removed by a nurse and we were told that this was no charge visit just to have this done.
All the bills pertaining the Nov 22nd visit were paid by my insurance company plus additional co payments amounts which were paid my me within 30 days.
Jan 2014 we received a bill for the 2nd visit and co payments for both the hospital and doctor which we were told was going to be a no charge visit. We called the number on the bill were told that they would look into this claim and get back to us. Over 10 calls were made with no call backs and finally a representative told us to fill out a Audit Authorization form which we received in March 2014 and sent back within 24 hours of receiving the form, along with a letter stating exactly what was told to us on that first visit.
Again a few months went by with no call backs to our phone calls asking if they have come up with a resolution to this claim. Every representative we spoke with said they would get back but they never did. We were assured that this account would not go to any collection agency and was placed on hold until the problem was resolved.
In July 2014, we received a new bill for the full amount of the co payment of the Dec 2nd visit with no other explanation and a phone call from a representative stating that this amount was now due and that I had fourteen days to pay and if I did they would reduce the total amount by 50%. I figured that it was worth the amount just to get this resolved so I gave my credit card information and they billed me for the 50%, and was told that this matter was all done.
August 2014 I received a phone call from a collection agency stating the total amount of the co pay was due and that I had 30 days to respond. I also received a letter from the collection agency stating the same thing. I called the collection agency and stated this was paid, and they stated it would remain on my credit history as a negative until proof was sent.
I called the number where I gave the credit card information and they told me the amount was transferred to another department and they could not give me any information. They gave me another phone call which is not the department that handled this which I did, I spoke with a representative who took all the information again (this story was told at least 25 times to as many representatives) and was told that someone would get back to me within 72 hours, which was 3 days from the time I am now writing this report.
With over 40 phone calls and several letters to this matter, along with no call backs or correspondence regarding this claim, and that it was eventually paid for and then sent to a collection agency, I can honestly state that this company does not care, indifference, rudeness, and lies are all we got in return. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone and will make every effort to discredit them when I can."
