Claimant's opinion: Warranty should absolutely cover tire pressure sensors. If not, then the warranty is not living up to the sales claims made during the warranty purchase. BUMPER TO BUMPER means BUMPER TO BUMPER. If some small, innocuous part buried in the bowels of my vehicle happens to have a small mercury lithium ion battery stuck in it, then that battery should be replaced FREE OF CHARGE over the life of the EXTENDED WARRANTY. OR, I could be charged only for the price of each battery, but NOT charged for replacing the part (sensor) which has the failing battery installed within that sensor.
Claimant's opinion: The VW Toaureg we bought was top-of-the-line. Almost every option. Nav system. V-8. Traction control package. Deluxe sound system. the car cost us $50,000. And we backed that up with a $4,000 super extended 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. We want our money's worth, or we want our money back on both the warranty AND the depreciated value of the vehicle. No we will NOT trade up for, nor buy another VW product of ANY KIND after this disaster.
Claimant's opinion: tire pressure sensors and any failed batteries in them should be covered under our extended warranty. We never knew that the TPMS sensors themselves had separate batteries installed in them that would not be covered under our extended warranty.
Claimant's opinion: Tire pressure monitoring system has been faulty, and has been sending alarms and warnings and beeps to the dash panel since 2005. It has been sent to the dealer on at least three occasions for the same problem. First was a recall for an improperly routed sensor wire. Then it was a faulty sensor unit in the dash. Now VW wants me to pay almost $900 to replace all four tire pressure sensors - one on each tire - to resolve the problem YET AGAIN. This is absurd. I wil not pay for this repair. We paid a lot of money for an all-encompassing EXTENDED WARRANTY, and these Sensor parts should be replaced UNDER WARRANTY - even if the battery in each sensor is dead. And of course all four sensor batteries could not have ALL gone dead at the same time! This is a scam and a ripoff.
Claimant's opinion: We have paid Sunnyale Volkswagon several hundred dollars since 2005 after we purchased our 2004 VW Touareg there in May 2004. Many of the paid-for-items were dealer-only items, or because we desired dealer-quality servicing. They did cover several items under warranty. But they claim that our warranty will NOT cover the four tire pressure sensors under warranty because they each contain small batteries that themselves have a shelf-life shorter than our 100,000 mile warranty will cover.
Claimant's opinion: I learned through researching this very common problem with 2004 Touaregs that the dealer can replace the sensor batteries under warranty only if they are completely dead. But my dealer is telling me that I need to replace all 4 sensors now. How can all 4 sensor's batteries go dead at the same time? This means that they are quite probably all NOT dead, maybe just one or perhaps even two are dead now, which is causing our false "WARNING_ FLAT TIRE!," but he wants to replace ALL of them at the same time and charge me the maximum price - nearly $900, even though only one or perhaps two batteries are dead right now.
