In June, 2016, we signed a contract with CMK Construction to complete a modest 326 sq. ft. addition to our home. With the arrival of a new baby boy the year before, we were excited for them to get started. We cut them a check for $17K. How did CMK respond? They failed to pull the first permit on our job until 1/30/2017, nearly seven months after we contracted them. But wait... it gets better. After months of delays, excuses and very little renovations happening, we received an email from a CMK sales associate stating we didn't have enough HVAC capacity, and that having a new AC installed would cost us in the neighborhood $10,000 (20% of the entire contract). Keep in mind, when CMK submitted their original plans to the City of Tampa, they checked "no" in the box designated for an HVAC review. But here's the kicker: fed up with their lies, lack of productivity, and abysmal customer service, we finally cancelled the contract on 5/11/2017. After 11 months, CMK was less than 40% complete with the project. Citing their ironclad contract, CMK then had the audacity to keep $10,000 (20%) of our money. Here's the cherry on the sundae: the workmanship they did was absolutely horrible. Not only will it cost us additional money to complete the job, but all of CMK's mistakes will need to be fixed before we can proceed. My advice to you is stay far, far away from CMK. They keep a full-time attorney on staff, if that's any indication as to how they operate. We just wanted to make room for our new baby boy.

Bay area residents, do not hire CMK! We signed a contract with this firm in June 2016, to complete a modest, 400 square foot addition to our home. Nearly a year has passed and they are not close to completing the job. (As I write this review, we have an unfinished frame that does not provide a safe, secure barrier from the outside. There are unused materials tossed in our driveway, and our back yard is completely torn up.) We have given CMK ample opportunities to correct multiple problems, and have been given assurances from the president of the company and two members of his management team that the work would be done. The last time we heard from CMK it was on 5/2 when our sales rep informed us that CMK made a mistake by electing to not have the city assess how the addition might affect the HVAC capacity on our home. He gave us a ridiculous estimate for a new AC installation, which is amounted to a 20% increase on the job! We have not heard from our Project Manager since April 20. I would strongly caution anyone from using this firm. My understanding is they are a sales-driven company more concerned with getting contracts signed then actually completing the work.
