We booked a room on September 12th through Priceline for three nights in Hollywood, Florida starting November 13th at Greniers Hotel, which we later found out was owned and operated by Hollywood Beach Hotels in Hollywood, CA. We received confirmation emails and brought our confirmation number with us for check-in. Our driver dropped us off at the address provided, along with our seven pieces of luggage, as we had just returned from a cruise. Three of these bags were nearly 50 lbs each. My husband went to find the office at this address, only to find out that the main office was a block and a half away. I stayed with our luggage on the side of the road to await his return. Fifteen minutes later, in the 90-degree weather, my husband returned, only to tell me that they didn’t have our reservation on file. Because we had already paid for this room online, we called Priceline to see what happened. They confirmed that we did have a reservation with this hotel, and we were there on the correct date. They provided us with a confirmation number, and my husband again walked 1-½ blocks to the office in the heat. I received a phone call from him several minutes later, telling me that the hotel STILL did not have our reservation, even with the provided booking number. We again called our online booking agency, who was at no fault, and they canceled our reservation and returned our deposit. Two hours later, and still sitting on the side of a street in Florida with all of our luggage, we made a reservation with a nearby hotel, The Flamingo, got a taxi, and were dropped off at a new location. To our dismay, we made a reservation with a “sister” hotel that used the same office as the first. However, the hotel received our reservation and payment, so we thought all was well. We learned that Greniers and The Flamingo are owned by Hollywood Beach Hotels. After checking in, we were shown to our room near the office. As soon as we opened the door, we were in shock. The drapes on the only window in the room were closed, and the room was dark and dingy. After opening the drapes, we understood why they were closed, as the window overlooked a sitting area where people were gathered, chatting, eating, smoking, etc. The room emitted a very strong and unpleasant smell of pine cleaner, yet the whole room was filthy. The front door was filthy, and had fingerprints, grime and dirt all the way down the inside edge. A sitting chair near the door was covered with what looked like vomit. The bed had no lamps next to it, but there was one main light overhead with a ceiling fan. The television hung awkwardly on the wall with cords hanging. The kitchenette was filthy, and had layers of dust on all of the walls. There was an air conditioner in the kitchen in the only window there, and it was blowing the dust in the room to the walls. There weren’t enough plug-ins in the kitchen, so they had added an extension cord and power outlet over the kitchen sink. This could prove very dangerous if you had an item plugged in and used the water. There was also a nail next to the external outlet. An old circuit box was near the air conditioner, and it was both dirty and unsightly. Layers of dust covered the inside. The bathroom was also filthy. A big wad of hair was on the baseboard, along with dust, dirt, and who knows what else. Next to the bed was a little shelf attached to the headboard. It was filthy. There was a “closet” in the room with a half-broken closet rod, a safe that was on the floor, a portable set of drawers, and wires running everywhere. The closet was also filthy. Back in the main room, there was what looked like vomit on the walls, spills, stains on both the walls and floor, and dust and dirt everywhere. Wall sconces had both dust and rust on them, and the floors were dirty and scratched up. There was a robe hanger on the back of the bathroom door that originally had four hooks attached. There was only one old hook left, as the others had all broken off. The small window in the kitchen had the blinds shut. I opened them up to get light inside, only to discover that the window and blinds were filthy, and the view was of an alleyway filled with boards and junk. My husband complained to management about the room, and we were offered a different room by the swimming pool. The first room that we were shown near the pool had no windows whatsoever. It was like walking into a closet. We turned that room down, and were offered a different room with a window a few doors down. We opened the door, and immediately smelled the same strong pine scent as the other room. We tried to open the window, but it was sealed shut. Although the room smelled clean it, too, was filthy. The bathroom floor was covered in dirt/sand. The inside door of the bathroom was covered with fingerprints, grime and dirt, and there was a crack in the door by the door knob as if someone had tried breaking in. Only one of the three lightbulbs were working. There were spills and dirt all over the walls. The baseboards were filthy. It looked like someone had tried making renovations to this room, then stopped and painted over everything. On the inside of the front door, there were more fingerprints, grime and dirt. There was a closet in the room, but there was no hanger bar to hang clothes on. The bottom of the closet was filthy with dirt, rust and dust. The kitchen was also filthy, although a little better than the first room that we saw. However, the two small coil burners on the back of the stove did not fit into the receptacle, and they were bent and dirty. Again, the view out the tiny kitchen window was of an alley filled with boards and junk, and the window was filthy. The dishes provided were three dinner plates, two mismatched mugs, one saucer, silverware and two glasses; one that was cracked through on the bottom. At this point, we really had no other option but to stay in this room, clean as best as we could, and hope for the best. We spent most of the day at Hollywood Beach, which was beautiful. When we came back to our room for the night, we tried to lock our front door but the dead bolt would not latch. We got into bed (the sheets were clean, thankfully) and were awakened at 2:00 am by pounding and stomping from overhead. It sounded as though someone was dragging furniture and rolling a bowling ball. My husband called the hotel and complained about the noise. Several minutes went by, and we heard the door overhead being slammed. The noise continued that night as well as the next day and night. The next day, we spent most of our time at the beach. We got ready for bed, turned on the TV, and the firestick would not work. It kept saying that the network could not be found, so my husband called the front office. There was no answer, so he walked to the office. Several other people were impatiently waiting to hear why the TVs were not working, and were also stating that no one was answering the phone. The person at the front desk told my husband that no one was there to fix the network issues, but they would happily give us a different room. Of course, that wouldn’t help the situation any, so he just left and told the folks in line, ready to check in, “Good Luck”. I have attached a lot of pictures to help complete my review of this hotel. We do not recommend this motel to our family and friends.
