Sarah M. says: I have only been there three times now but I have future stays that I am debating for several reasons. First, I’ve never won anything there. Second, my last stay, which was not on the beach side, I got bit by bed bugs. My husband actually killed one off my pillow and we thought it was a roach. My husband was not bite because we only stayed one night and because he was cold he actually slept with all of his clothes on except his shoes. I got back home itching and with bites all over me which has now just been constantly itching and some are hurting to the touch. I just contacted the casino and told them I have pics if they need but I may have to go to the doctor.

Beverly B. says: I wanted to express my disappointment with the restaurant The Steamer.  We just ate there for my grandsons birthday and spent a little over $200.00.
I have to say, the bread was delicious but after that and the sweet tea, well it was down hill.  The gumbo was good but was mostly rice with a little gumbo on top.  What was suppose to have been corn bisque tasted like potatoes and corn where someone had dropped a jar of powered seasoning into it.  Terrible.
The cheese on the oysters was so strong it was bitter could not eat them  The crabmeat stuffing tasted like nothing we had ever eaten before and since it was in the stuffed shrimp that too was not eaten either.
the snow crabs seemed to have been steamed to long as the stuck to the shell and could not get them out very well.  The peel and eat shrimp were tasty but no sauce for them.  Now born and raised in the south, those turnip greens were so full of pepper you could not even taste the greens.  That is not how it is done in the south, sorry.  The fresh catch fish tasted as dry as shoe leather.
needless to say it was a major disappointment for my grandson's birthday.  It was so upsetting we didn't dare try the desserts but went to the candy shop instead.
As I said i have lived on the coast all my life and have relatives and family coming down all the time and I am sorry to say but after this adventure I can not with good conscience recommend your restaurant to anyone.
It is a beautiful building and lovely setting but the food could use a lot of work.  This is just an opinion of the people with me and myself.  And I do hope you might consider looking into this because we need some good family restaurants.  I know it is just one opinion but it might help.
