I was completely lied to by their sales agent when I signed up. He lied to get my business. I added additional coverage for my pool, septic, water heater, etc.. So far I have not been covered with any claim on these items. For example, I was told directly by the sales agent that they covered septic systems. I know nothing about Septics except that you need to pump them every 5 yrs. I asked if pumping my septic was covered at the time of signing up. The rep assured me it was and even told me only one pumping per year. I said I wouldn't need it that often. So my septic back up this week and guess what?? Select Warranty first changed my claim to say it was a septic pump problem (not covered)... well we don't even have a septic pump! The contractor said it just needed to be pumped. So he called it back in to Select and they said "not covered." Again this is a very dishonest company and I am going to get my money back. I signed up for 3 years! Glad I'm experiencing this dishonesty now!

This is company from hell.
I do not write many reviews but this one deserves my time.
My A/C unit went down and this is in the middle of summer in 100 daytime temps in AZ. I immediately called "Select" to have someone come and repair it. The local repair company that they chose was not able to show up the next day but showed up the day after. ( Not the local repair company's fault )
The kind repair man noted that a part had to be replaced to make the A/C work and told me that for him to replace it I would have to get approval from "Select", then call him and schedule an appointment.
When I called "Select", they said that it would take 24-48 hours for their team to approve a $269 part.
I was naturally upset and explained that time was of the essence especially since the temps where I live were in the 100's. There seemed to be no sign of urgency or concern on their end and the rep said that they had to follow policy ( total indifference )
They finally approved it after I had talked to various reps multiple times that day and the repair man showed up promptly the next morning.
I was hoping for a resolution in the matter but the repair guy found another bad part. Once again I went through the same torture with "Select" they still have not approved the second part which by their admittance is fully covered under the warranty.
It is now 9 DAYS since I have been living with a dead A/C unit with no resolution in sight.
I finally got an email from them saying that they have mailed out the part that needs to be replaced and that once I get it, I would have to contact the service company to replace it.
If you would like to go through what I have gone through by all means go ahead and sign up with these losers.
Today I called to cancel my coverage and for a refund of the unused portion of my warranty. They naturally tried to talk me out of it and when I was clear that I wanted out, could not give me a straight answer on how much money would be refunded back.
It would take 24-48 hours for them to get back to me about the refund.
Why is is so hard for this company to be transparent and honest with their clients?
Take my advice and STEER CLEAR.

Please do not fall into this trap! I chose Select Home Warranty when I purchased a home since it's appliances were older and may need repair/replacement. I was tricked into thinking this company would help me when I needed it. However, when my furnace failed, they were most unhelpful. Living in Colorado it is still necessary to have a functioning furnace often times into May. I filed a claim online just as they requested and I waited a day longer than the "potential" 48 hour waiting period to have a response regarding my claim. Then I called and had to basically re-file my claim and was told I could wait as much as another 48 hours for a technician to be contacted. Again, I waited and heard nothing. I was also told I could not find my own technician and connect them with the company. After another several days I still had no answers and the company told me they were working on finding a technician and would contact me within 48 hours. When I called again in 48 hours, they then told me I could find my own technician. So, I did. He came to my home and diagnosed the problem as being a circuit board failure. He talked with them directly while at my home, per the company's policy. I then called to follow up for the approval and was promptly emailed a request for photographs and 2 years of maintenance records for the unit. Because I have not owned the home for even a year yet and the home inspector found the furnace in good working order prior to purchasing the home, there are no maintenance records. All of this occurred over a course of 3 weeks! I called to request a full refund of my policy since they had not helped me at all and I had done off the work to find a technician and even the part for my furnace. I was told they could cancel my policy and issue me less than $90. When I asked to speak to this person's boss he told me that his boss is the owner of the company and his name is Alex Winters, but he does not have a phone. Comical. I am exhausted by this experience, my children are tired of sleeping with hats and gloves on and I am amazed that none of the pipes in my house are frozen.

Please do NOT spend your money with this "Home Warranty" company. As a new customer to Select Home Warranty I am very disappointed and upset that I spent my money purchasing a policy with this company. This company has reimbursement issues, "hidden" probation periods of service, unexpected costs issues, misleading and lack of information when speaking with personnel, as well as poor communication when being transferred to different departments. In any "emergency" repair situation Select Home Warranty is NOT the company to call. Heaven forbid if there is a leak or plumbing issue in your home, you would have an entire swimming pool in your home before Select Home Warranty would send someone over to repair, IF they actually felt like taking the time out of their busy schedules to find a plumbing service nearest to you. Their "reimbursement" is a joke. They will ask for invoices indicating the service that was performed (that you pay for AFTER you pay for the policy) and will give you a refund of only $150. If anyone wanted to pay $300 - $500 for a home repair, then a home warranty policy wouldn't be needed. Long story short, I felt like I had been duped, and wish that I had read more reviews about Select Home Warranty company before I signed up with this circus. One pro to this company is that they have a hell of a sales team, because the person that sold me the policy did a great job of selling the paper that the policy documents were printed on, and an excellent job at concealing what a fraud Select Home Warranty company really is.
