Let me start off by saying that this is not the first custom home my husband and I have had built, so we have experience in dealing with home builders. We went with Tilson Homes because we went to their site in Bryan that actually has the model home we wanted to build, so we were able to see the quality and craftsmanship before we ever decided to choose them as our builder. We thought that we would get the same quality that the model home had, but we were wrong. I can tell you that the sales person is going to tell you everything you want to hear, but only about 75% of it is the truth. We signed our contract in August of 2021 and our home is still not complete. There is absolutely no accountability from the job superintendent or the so-called contractors they use. They had to re-plumb our master shower four times to get it right. There are weeks/months where no one shows up to work and when they do show up they work about 3.5 hours and they leave. No one is there to oversee the work, so you're paying Tilson for nothing, because I can assure you that there is no oversight taking place. We have had problem after problem, with no end in sight. They installed our tile in the house (backsplash and showers) before it was even ready for that stage. They're having to rip it all out because it looks awful! No spacers were used, tiles are crooked, and uneven and I was the only one that noticed. The cabinets in our home from Kent Moore were broken and installed that way in October and they're are still that way to this day, and no one can tell me when they're going to be fixed. It took 2 months to get a representative from Kent Moore to show up to agree that the cabinets were crap, but they don't replace them, they just order parts to take them apart and have them fixed, which I think is unacceptable. Every electrical outlet in our home is crooked, like these contractors don't know what a level is or how to use one. When I say you're paying Tilson to do nothing, just know that you will be the one to find and point out problems and you'll tell your job superintendent about it and nothing will get done. We met the superintendent and the tile guy at our house to discuss the awful job and the tile guy had the nerve to tell me that "we're wanting a fancy tile job and that's not what we're paying for". I told him I was paying Tilson to have the job done right, nothing fancy is happening. It's a joke and a nightmare that has costs us around half a million dollars, so if I were you, I would run not walk away from Tilson Home Corporation!

We were initially told our build would take six months total to complete. It turned out to be six months before we ever had a foundation started! And that was after reaching out to corporate or regards to insufficiency. We are now 14 months in with no end in sight. Tilson does NOT care about people or their families. There have been weeks at a time without a single worker present. The work that has been completed is faulty. There’s pain all over the cabinets they installed first (why?!), holes in the drywall where they’ve hit it, cracks in the stone work, scratches on the doors, etc. Go with literally ANY other builder.

Three years before our warranty ran out our interior doors were sticking and cracks were forming on our porches. They sent an expert out and did some measurements and said the foundation was good. Things just got worse. Just before our warranty went out again I had them come out and inspect the foundation. I then had multiple floor tiles cracked (all tile house), large cracks above doors, doors still sticking, sheetrock tape separating on walls and ceiling, cracks around my fireplace, and cracks on exterior rock near doors and window. Again an expert came out and did measurements and said it was within tolerances and the damage was due to me not watering my foundation. I had soaker hose all around my house and was well aware of the need to water. When we purchased our home we knew that the soil was bad and paid over $5,000 to beef up the foundation to prevent these things from happening. Cracks have gotten bigger, walls are worse and now I found out that it will cost me close to $28,000 to get my foundation repaired. Buyers beware their work is just good enough to make it though the warranty and then you are on your own.
