About John Beauvais

I am a 2L and am working on my Master's in Negotion and Dispute Resolution. My extra-curriculars at law school include the Gay-Straight Law Student Alliance and the Creighton Law Review. My main interests are family (with an emphasis on juvenile law) and alternative dispute resolution. It is hard to define my ambitions in the legal field because my goal is to essentially create something that does not exist yet. My goal is to help reform the juvenile justice system and the schools by helping them to incorporate ADR techniques. I believe that there is a lot of unnecessary suffering that goes on as a result of inefficent systems and my hope is to be able to resolve some of that suffering.

Views on the practice of law

As you might be able to tell from my previous statement, I believe the legal system is largely inefficient and is need of reform. I believe in the principles upon which it is based, but I also believe that it should adapt to incorporate more of the ADR techniques which have been developed in the last 30+ years.

Reason to be here

I feel I should be considered for this internship because I am a hard working individual with a strong academic background in this field. Unfortunately, I have not had much in the way of practical experience, but I believe that this internship would be a great opportunity to gain some practical experience. One of the goals stated on the website is to help students develop their skills and my inclusion in your program would definitely help to contribute to that goal.
