About
Yvette Cave
I'm a 23 year old pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in English with a concentration in Pre-Law. My future in the legal field involves being a contract lawyer for a corporate company, preferably a restaurant. I am a self motivated person and very career driven. I enjoy writing leisurely, as well as reading Stephen King novels. I am someone who is well-rounded having been involved in multiple sports and having worked in restaurants most of my life.
Views on the practice of law
Overall, I think the legal system is a great thing; having said that, I believe there are improvements that could be made (who doesn't think that?). My major concern with our legal system are the prosecutors and law enforcement who violate ethics rules and laws. For example, I just completed an internship with the Orleans Public Defenders and it amazed me how much of the information (that's supposed to be public) was redacted before the public defenders received that information that the prosecutors had full access to. To redact that information is supposed to be unlawful/illegal, but they get away with it regardless of the many complaints that have been made.
Reason to be here
I would be a great asset to this internship because I am a dedicated and hard worker who enjoys solving problems and coming to a resolution, especially when it looks like there may not be one. I am interested in developing knowledge of different parts of the legal system, as well as develop negotiating skills through this internship.
