Did you know that becoming specialized in particular legal areas involves much more than just practicing in those areas? What if, for example, the answer to a general liability litigation question actually involves an understanding of certain administrative procedures?
I solve this by staying up-to-date in my most prominent areas, while, on occasion, taking on cases and/or classes in wholly unrelated fields. One of my most favorite courses involved an understanding of intellectual property law.
I have a knack for understanding, for example, why simple contract law can resolve complicated issues in the area of divorce. Or, why a workers' compensation analysis can end a complicated piece of commercial litigation.
I did in-house corporate contract work for approximately eight years before I became an associate with a regional insurance and corporate defense firm. Working my way up to Senior Partner, I litigated over 100 cases, first chair, both federal and state. Additionally, I have argued many appeals at both the state and federal levels. Although my major concentrations are insurance, corporate and employment work, I have supplemented my personal practice by doing criminal law, bonding law, divorce, employment law, construction litigation, business-to-business litigation, creditor's bankruptcy, conservatorships, products liability, and personal injury law, to cite just a few.
